About The Congregation
Today
Congregation Beth El is a Reform Congregation of 55 families centrally located in Traverse City, Michigan. Our congregants come from such diverse areas as Beaver Island to the North, a two-plus hour ferry ride, Cadillac to the South, Grayling to the East, and the Lake Michigan shoreline to the West.
We are a small but viable synagogue providing a wide range of services to our members and guests. We hold Friday night Shabbat services (see Calendar for exact dates) and High Holy Day services. In addition, we have religious and Hebrew school classes for our students as well as adult education and informal Torah study meetings. Our Rabbi is available to provide spiritual leadership, officiating at life-cycle events, and offer a helping hand when necessary.
Congregation Beth El's monthly newsletter, "The Sound of the Shofar" provides current news of the Congregation and its members. Among our events are a community Passover Seder, a Hanukkah party, periodic Rosh Chodesh women's group meetings, seasonal Havdalah pot luck dinners, and many Youth Group activities.
We are well into our second one hundred years, and we cordially invite you to visit us the next time you are in the Traverse City area.
